Star Ratings explained
The overall rating is calculated from four sub-scores. Looking at the sub-scores tells you far more than the headline number.
The four sub-scores
Residents' experience
Survey responses from residents about how they find life in the home.
Compliance
Performance against the Aged Care Quality Standards, based on audit history.
Staffing
Care minutes delivered per resident per day, including registered nurse time.
Quality measures
Clinical indicators such as falls, weight loss and pressure injuries.
What Star Ratings don't tell you
- Whether the home feels right for you personally.
- Whether there is a vacancy in the room type you need.
- How far it is from the people who will visit you.
- Recent, un-audited changes in management or staffing.
